How I Work

You must give birth to your images. They are the future waiting to be born.

What would it feel like to approach treatment with the perspective that deep inside, you are already well and whole and have all the answers that you need? That you have a natural state of wellness that can be accessed as an eternal wellspring for your own healing? Becoming whole again is not about finding the right diagnosis or treatment, but a sacred process of reclaiming and remembering something that already naturally exists inside you. Somewhere along your journey, you may have lost access and connection to these parts of yourself. And you have developed symptoms and patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving as an adaptation to your circumstances and environment, but they are not the truth of who you are.

As a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, I view wellness and wholeness from a developmental perspective. Children come into the world with an intact connection to who they truly are, their natural essence. If you are a parent, or spend time with young children, you know what I am talking about - a child’s innate tendencies, personality, quirks, abilities and vulnerabilities. Some of it is a part of their family genetic inheritance, and some of it is entirely their own!

A child’s natural essence is the greatest ally we have in helping them develop a resilience to many of life’s difficulties and challenges. And yet, much of society operates in a way that inhibits the development and expression of our children’s natural essence. We encourage and reward conformity and compliance. We suppress and inhibit our natural flow of emotions. Children (and adults) learn to stop feeling and trusting themselves and turn towards external validators of success and approval.  In this process, you lose connection with highly intelligent parts of yourself.

When you lose connection with these innate and intelligent parts of yourself, you lose access to your own emotional flow and guidance and a wealth of knowledge about what brings you true joy, fulfillment, and purpose.  This emptiness, malaise, or simply lack of living in alignment with yourself can lead you farther and farther away from your true self.  As you continue to make decisions that are out of alignment with your true self, over time, you manifest mental health symptoms, such as depression, anxiety, fatigue, anger, dissatisfaction, and confusion, that are the result of having the youngest, truest parts of yourself forgotten, neglected, denied or unexpressed.

Whether I work with a child or an adult, it is my goal to guide you back to your natural essence so that you can be in sacred relationship with yourself once again.  This is a process of remembering, reclaiming, and loving yourself back home. I will hold you and your process in the highest vibration of unconditional love and acceptance, so that we together can heal all those parts of you that need to be seen, known, tended to, nurtured, and loved back into wholeness. When you can reclaim, embrace, and express all parts of yourself freely, then you are truly home.

Go into yourself and see how deep the place is from which your life flows.
